Dr.Ronald K. Risinger, a native of Orange, Texas, graduated from Orangefield High School in 1981. He attended Lamar University and received his dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1988, graduating with honors. In 1989, Dr. Risinger was recognized as a distinguished graduate from an U.S. Air Force general practice residency program at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois. He practiced general dentistry in the Air Force for five years, serving at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
Dr. Risinger was selected by the Air Force to receive advanced training in the specialty of orthodontics. After three years of intensive study, he graduated with a master’s degree and an orthodontic specialty certificate from the University of North Carolina in 1996. Upon graduation, Dr. Risinger served a three-year tour as an orthodontist with the Air Force in Tokyo, Japan.
Dr. Risinger has received numerous professional awards and is a published author in several international dental journals. He has also been an invited lecturer at national and international orthodontic meetings. Dr. Risinger is board certified with the American Board of Orthodontics, and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. Dr. Risinger is a past-president of the Southeast Texas Dental Society and a member of the Texas Dental Association.
Dr. Risinger opened his private practice in orthodontics in August 1999 in Beaumont, Texas. In 2002, he opened a satellite office in Port Arthur, Texas. He is honored to have treated over 9,000 patients in Southeast Texas over the last 17 years.
Dr. Risinger is married to Lynn Risinger, and has one daughter, Brittney, and two sons, Dane and Logan. Brittney graduated from Lamar University in 2012 and now works in the fashion industry. Dane is a Sophomore at Baylor University, where he’s studying to be an orthodontist. Lastly, Logan is a busy 9th grader, playing golf and basketball for Orangefield.
Dr. Risinger is committed to education and he serves as the School Board President of Orangefield Independent School District. He enjoys singing in his church choir and collecting muscle cars.
Dr.Michael F. Nelson is a native of Southern California. After graduating from Burbank High School, he attended Brigham Young University, where he graduated in with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1996. During his time at BYU, he took a two year break for a church service mission in France and Belgium.
Dr. Nelson returned to Southern California to attend dental school at University of California, Los Angeles. He graduated in 2001 as part of the honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Nelson served his Orthodontic and Pediatric Dental residency at UCLA, the only program of its kind in the country. He completed his residency in 2004 and began his private practice in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dr. Nelson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Pediatric Dentists, and Texas Dental Association. He currently serves on the board of the Dental Society of Southeast Texas as President-Elect.
Dr. Nelson has received several research presentation accolades and has had his research published in the prestigious American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Nelson is married to Jenn and they have four beautiful daughters. They are proud to call Southeast Texas home and are happy to be close to their family.
Dr.Steven R Speaker grew up on the Central Coast of California and is happy to call Southeast Texas his new home. After high school, he served a two year mission for his church in Italy. Upon returning from Italy, he served as a dental assistant in Ecuador where he learned to speak Spanish. While in Ecuador, he saw the difference a healthy beautiful smile could make in a person’s confidence. This experience solidified his desire to pursue a career in dentistry.
Upon returning from Ecuador, Dr. Speaker scored in the 100th percentile on the Dental Admission Test. His history of service and academics allowed him to receive the Dean’s Scholarship at the only accelerated dental school in the nation. He remained at the top of his Class at University of the Pacific.
Following dental school, Dr. Speaker completed a three year specialization in Orthodontics at Roseman University. During his residency, he earned the Charlie Schultz Scholar award and presented his research to the largest gathering of orthodontists in the world. He also earned a dual degree in a Masters of Business Administration.
Before moving to Southeast Texas, Dr. Speaker worked in California for 2 years, initiating and developing the orthodontic department for several group practices.
Dr. Speaker and his wife, Heidi, have two children and a black lab. His hobbies include weightlifting, surfing, volleyball, and cycling. He is a natural artist and loves painting and drawing. With his artistic eye, he designs exceptional smiles.
